Wednesday is another warm weather day around the Philadelphia region, and you can wear shorts and T-shirts this afternoon and early evening. The main difference from Tuesday will be a chance for a few showers through the day. This morning will be partly sunny with a few stray showers possible, but you probably won’t need your umbrella until the evening. A better chance for more widespread showers and thunderstorms will develop late this afternoon into the first half of the overnight hours.
Some storms will produce heavy winds and the potential for gusty winds, but the threat for severe weather is relatively low. Some places could have the warmest low temperature for April 1 ever recorded. In fact, high temperatures this afternoon will likely break the record high for April 1 as well (no joke!). The record high in Philly today is 81 degrees – the forecast is for 83 degrees.
The rain and storms Wednesday will be associated with a cold front that will usher in much cooler air for Thursday, with highs only in the middle 50s, keeping a small chance for a passing shower. The Easter weekend will be warm again but remain unsettled with showers and storms looking likely Sunday afternoon and evening. Plan on doing your egg hunts in the morning!
Artemis II mission launch is happening soon, with an 80% chance of good weather conditions. The only limiting factors are some potential cumulus clouds (lightning concern) and breezy onshore winds.
