Andrée Hernandez, a candidate in the municipal elections from the list “A New Momentum for Lezignan-Corbières,” organized a meeting on the forecourt of the media library to present his cultural objectives.

“The culture is the future because it creates society and allows action on many levels.” This week, Andrée Hernandez, at the head of the list “A New Momentum for Lezignan-Corbières,” met with his supporters on the forecourt of the media library to present his orientations in a field that is close to his heart. In front of approximately 70 people, the candidate emphasized that here in Lezignan, culture suffers and they are the only ones to promote it because it is a lever in terms of economy, society, or the city’s image.

Andrée Hernandez also highlighted the role of the Limoux carnival, pointed out that organizing festive and cultural events could support trade or viticulture, and mentioned that culture also helps to create connections in neighborhoods. “But culture,” he also recalled, “is not just arts, it is also traditions, languages, innovation, creation…”

“A world without culture is a world that is regressing.”

As president of the intermunicipal body, the candidate also mentioned the project to build a performance hall: “Because Lezignan, as a central village, deserves to have one for the entire territory. Not a party hall but a real performance venue.”

Regarding the rest, the list “A New Momentum for Lezignan-Corbières” assures that they know what they will do tomorrow in partnership with all the associations that do great work (Ciném’Aude, Maison Gibert, Maison des jeunes…). Actions for young people, creation of a clearly identified cultural event in Lezignan, hosting multiple festivals, organizing a New Year’s concert, creating a hall with shops and crafts, a museum… These are some of the proposals made by the candidate and his team.

“Culture should never be relegated to second place; it is not an addition. Because a world without culture is a world that is regressing,” concluded Andrée Hernandez.
