Easter Festival: from March 28 to April 12, 2026, Grand Théâtre de Provence, Darius Milhaud conservatory, and Théâtre du Jeu de Paume, in Aix-en-Provence.
The executive director Dominique Bluzet and the artistic director Renaud Capuçon of the Easter Festival describe the 2026 edition as a “mission festival.” They explain in the event’s introduction: “The Easter Festival in Aix-en-Provence has become, over the years, one of the main European musical events. The greatest soloists, the most famous orchestras, take turns there in front of packed and delighted audiences. In 2026, a very prestigious orchestra will take up residency there: the Munich Philharmonic, conducted by Lahav Shani!”
Joys and reflection
“The success of the Easter Festival reminds us that with CIC, a founding partner, we not only had the ambition to bring the greatest musicians to Aix, but also to anchor ourselves in the territories to build connections, share the talent and passion for music. For the people of Aix and Provence as well as for the artists, the Easter Festival has become a celebration, a moment of joy. This joy is sometimes tinged with seriousness because Easter is also the moment of the year that invites introspection… Each year, one of Bach’s two Passions is interpreted on Good Friday evening. In 2026, the festival chooses to set up at the Camp des Milles, for a day of reflection and music on the relationship with the sacred, with the desire to bring a positive wave in these dark times,” specify Dominique Bluzet and Renaud Capuçon.
Music sharing
Every year, Music Sharing, the solidarity aspect of the Easter Festival, offers concerts to the people of Aix, as well as to residents of towns and villages throughout the South Region. Conservatory students are invited to participate in masterclasses; patients in local hospitals and care centers receive visits from programmed artists or benefit from live broadcasts of the festival concerts with the HEKO program; the youngest have specially designed moments for them.
“For the people of Aix and Provence as well as for the artists, the Easter Festival has become a celebration, a moment of joy,” concludes Dominique Bluzet.
