At 52 years old, Vikash Dhorasoo is taking the plunge. The former French international (18 caps, 1 goal) and 2006 World Cup runner-up stated in an interview with L’Équipe his desire to become a head coach, after serving as an assistant coach at Paris 13 Atletico in N1 this season. The former Paris Saint-Germain player, who will officially graduate in June, is eager to lead a team. “It was not something I had planned at all (to become a coach), but talking about football regularly, analyzing, commenting, giving my opinion on everything, led me to believe that I should go for it, take a risk,” he explains.
“I went to India four and a half years ago, and I was asked to train girls there. I relied on my memories a bit, set up a small session, and I enjoyed it…” My goal? Being a head coach, because I feel ready to lead a high-level team, manage a staff, and embark on a human adventure. I already have people around me to form this staff. The level at which I would like to coach? Ligue 1, Ligue 2, or a National team with a big project that is high in the standings. It is the high level that interests me, and that’s where I think I can contribute something. I noticed that very few former internationals have chosen to become coaches. We are not well represented to obtain coaching diplomas. I want to represent these former internationals.
