An Indian technology professional has drawn attention online after sharing why he chose to leave a well-paying role in Singapore and return to India, saying he prioritised a life that felt right over one that appeared successful from the outside.

Aman Vaishnav, who identifies himself as a senior machine learning engineer, spoke about the decision in a video posted on Instagram. In the video, he said he left Singapore last month despite having a strong salary package and the lifestyle many Indian engineers aspire to achieve overseas.

According to Vaishnav, personal circumstances influenced his decision to relocate, although he did not disclose details. He said the situation led him to return to India and begin a new chapter in Bengaluru.

The engineer acknowledged that people around him were surprised by the move, given the professional opportunities and financial benefits associated with working in Singapore. He said he is still unsure whether the decision will prove to be the right one in the long run.

Vaishnav said he has never made major life decisions out of fear and believes there are times when people must choose between a life that appears ideal and one that genuinely feels right to them.

Now based in Bengaluru, Vaishnav said he is rebuilding his life from scratch at the age of 26. He described the transition as a fresh start and reflected that some decisions only become clear with time.

The video prompted reactions from social media users, many of whom praised his willingness to prioritise personal fulfilment over professional comfort. Several users wished him success and encouraged him as he begins a new phase in Bengaluru.
