This edition of Cannes was an extraordinary adventure, but we’re not going to lie to you: it was also particularly difficult to carry out. Between the small health problems that arise at the worst time, the multiplicity of screenings, the appointments that follow one another and the frantic pace of the Croisette, the exercise sometimes resembled an obstacle course.
But we absolutely wanted to be there for you. To overcome these waves, we have chosen to break the codes this year and offer you a “vlog” format, more direct, more immersive and completely transparent. The objective? Let you experience the excitement behind the scenes from the inside and take you with us to meet around fifteen exceptional Latin-American and Spanish talents who are making today’s cinema vibrant. Make yourself comfortable and discover our special 24-minute show in total immersion:
Cannes 2026: Penélope Cruz, the spark of the Croisette
Le ton a été donné dès les premières notes de la compétition officielle. Sublime, magnétique, Penélope Cruz once again proved that she reigns supreme in international cinema. As she climbed the steps, the Spanish actress shared a secret that made the festival vibrate:“Last night I felt like I was 20 years old.”.
This eternal youth, this creative enthusiasm, is precisely the DNA of what we wanted to capture this year. Beyond the glitter, what does the festival look like for those who shake up the lines, who experience their first great Cannes emotions or who carry cinema at arm’s length? To discover it, you had to move away from the signposted routes.
Non-promo authenticity: The freshness of encounters on the terraces
Our objective this year was clear: to escape the traditional promotional “tunnels”, these interviews timed on the line where spontaneity fades behind the elements of language. We wanted to rediscover the very essence of film journalism: discussion, passion, humanity.
It is in the intimacy of the Cannes terraces, far from the tumult of the red carpets, that we have collected our most beautiful moments. Particularly with the young Spanish actressStéphanie Gil (récemment saluée dans A dangerous friendship), who shared with us with incredible generosity his experience for his very first festival. Seeing these artists agree to engage outside the frame, out of pure love of the seventh art, remains the greatest gift of this edition. This breath of fresh air shows to what extent the new Iberian generation is ready to conquer the screens, including in France.
Exclusive meeting with the icon Paz Vega
Glamor and auteur cinema magnificently intersected during our exclusive tête-à-tête with the immensePaz Vega. An essential actress with international influence, she embodies this perfect bridge between the demands of Spanish cinema and Hollywood openness. Far from the red carpets and the hustle and bustle of photographers, she spoke with rare generosity about the evolution of her career, her view of the current industry and her unwavering love for stories that shake up the viewer. A moment out of time.
Favorite Cannes 2026: The slapVivaAnd the intensity of Sergi Lopez
If there is one project that left its mark and shook up the festival this year, it was the presentation of the film Viva by Aïna Clotet. A work of rare accuracy, acclaimed by critics, which once again confirms the narrative power of Spanish fiction.
It was in another setting that we were able to cross paths with the greatSergi López. A favorite actor with raw magnetism, he spoke for us about the importance of bringing such strong and authentic stories to the international stage. A meeting of disarming sincerity which remains one of the highlights of our stay.
Despite the fatigue, the unexpected and the logistical challenges of this edition, this trip to the Croisette reminds us why we created La Montée Ibérique: to celebrate the richness, audacity and diversity of Spanish and Latin American cinema. From the confidences of Paz Vega to the power of Sergi López, through the fights of à ngeles Hernández and the freshness of Stéphanie Gil, this year proves that Iberian creation is more vibrant and necessary than ever. A huge thank you to you for following us on these immersive adventures. We live this festival above all to share it with you!
And you, what is the project or artist in this selection that thrills you the most? We are waiting for your opinions in comments!
