The series of demonstrations against Donald Trump’s policies in the United States reflects popular frustration, according to an expert on American politics.
” There is a tiredness, a tiredness of Trumpism, of the establishment of this authoritarian regime that does not officially bear its name yet, but which increasingly resembles it,” said Romuald Sciora, director of the Political and Geostrategic Observatory of the United States at the Institute of International and Strategic Relations (IRIS), on LCN, Saturday.
Sciora emphasized that the “No Kings” movement stems from discontent with Trump administration decisions, including those regarding military intervention in the Middle East, the actions of the American Immigration Police (ICE), and the deployment of the National Guard.
“Don’t forget that Trump was elected promising that he would be the president [and] that he would not lead the country back into one of those wars similar to Iran or [to] Afghanistan. And today, American deaths continue to accumulate,” he stated.
The expert in American politics believes that the Republican Party will inevitably lose the US House of Representatives in November.
“With this ongoing war in Iran, with ICE being now present in airports, there is a good chance that there will be a real rejection from the American people, and we may see a hemorrhage [on the] Republican side in the House of Representatives in November,” explained Sciora to LCN.
Pressures on the American President
Romuald Sciora believes that Donald Trump is beginning to face pressure from both the public and his inner circle.
“Let’s not forget that people like J.D. Vance or Susie Wiles, the White House Secretary-General, are opposed to this war in Iran and are really pushing to stop the conflict as soon as possible,” mentioned the director of the Political and Geostrategic Observatory of the United States at IRIS.
Sciora also indicated that the American president is facing pressure from the United States Congress to end the budgetary paralysis affecting airports.
“It’s starting to drag on. All this adding to the others [complaints from] Americans, it’s one more today that adds to this small pile of stones [against] Donald Trump,” he affirmed.
