12:30 a.m. Little Guerrier in concert at the Kayenn Jazz Festival
Last October, Little Guerrier, a key figure in Guyanese reggae, rocked the Place des Amandiers in Cayenne during the Kayenn Jazz Festival 2025, accompanied by musicians from Highwouler’s.
After a childhood spent in Surinam, Little Guerrier, alias August Main de Bouja, settled in French Guiana, where he discovered in reggae a powerful means of expression and transmission. Author, singer, composer, the artist became known within the emblematic group Reggae Matik Crew, with whom he recorded two founding albums, Roots-Rock-Reggae and Vibes, which assert a musical identity nourished by Jamaican and Caribbean rhythms.
Very quickly, he began a prolific solo career and signed, between 2009 and 2020, five critically acclaimed albums (Caan Cool, I and I, Pa Moli, More Love and Shining), carried by messages of brotherhood, solidarity and resilience. His intense stage presence and authenticity have led him to perform on numerous international stages, from Europe to the Americas, including Africa and the Caribbean. Awarded four Lindors, Guyanese musical distinctions, Little Guerrier has established itself as a true Guyanese cultural ambassador.
Today, the artist continues his influence with the release of his seventh solo album, That Day (2025), recorded in Jamaica under the direction of the legendary Dean Fraser, marking a decisive step in his artistic journey.
Driven by groove, stage generosity and a palpable collective energy, the artist’s performance during the Kayenn Jazz Festival 2025 created a warm and vibrant atmosphere. The audience experienced a suspended moment, between sharing and musical resonance.
