Scottish supporters followed in the footsteps of their Mexican counterparts.
A few hours before the start of the match against Morocco, counting for the second day of the group stage of the 2026 World Cup, a duck from Providence, star of social networks, was adopted as an unofficial mascot by Scottish supporters.
She even paraded alongside the “Tartan Army”, the nickname of Scottish supporters, during a procession of bagpipes preceding the match this Friday evening (East Coast time of the United States).

Nicknamed “Don”, the lucky bird wore the Scottish flag on his back, in addition to his characteristic gold necklace, to lead the procession in the state of Rhode Island, just before kick-off against Morocco.
‘Don’ is the latest duck to enter the world of football, after Mexican fans adopted ‘Merlin’ as their unofficial mascot, according to the agency « Reuters ».
Nicknamed “the supporting duck”, Don rose to fame in 2024 after attending a game of the University of Providence basketball team. However, she was quickly prohibited from accessing the land for animal safety reasons.
Despite this ban, “Don” continues to regularly perform at events in the city of Providence and has more than 30,000 subscribers on Instagram.
Scotland beat Haiti 1-0 on the opening day of the group stage, while Morocco drew Brazil 1-1.
