Environ “120 million barrels” of oil are still “coincés” in the Strait of Hormuz in the Middle East, declared Friday June 19 on France Inter Homayoun Falakshahi, the head of oil analysis at the Kpler firm, after the signing of the agreement between Iran and the United States which opens a new round of negotiations. This quantity of barrels represents “just over a day of global consumption“, says Homayoun Falakshahi.

The United States announced Thursday the lifting of its blockade of Iranian ports. Ships were able to cross the Strait of Hormuz. But according to the Radio France verification agency, 788 ships are still in the Persian Gulf.

D’après Homayoun Falakshahi, “the big question is ‘will empty tankers take the risk of returning?’ It will take two to three months before completely normal traffic returns to the Strait of Hormuz“, estimates the analyst.
