“I didn’t think it took so many people and so much equipment for a film shoot,” says Anna Josselin, who discovered the behind-the-scenes of the film “The Treasure”, at the beginning of May, at home. Originally from Bourseul, a small town where she lives and works, near Plancoët, the 24-year-old took advantage of the visit of director Vincent Mariette’s team to take her first steps as an extra.
But why did a filming initially planned between Rennes and Saint-Malo cause a Costa Rican prank? “At the end of 2025, a woman from the scouting team visited Bourseul. She was on her way to go to the actress Lucie Lucas, who lives not far away, and was looking for a country convenience store, like the one where I work,” recalls Anna, employed since June 2024 at the Bourseulaise grocery store, run by Gérard Houée. After a second visit to the premises by production, at the beginning of spring, the deal was concluded: the business received the full attention of the lighting, sound and video technicians. A day of filming is scheduled there, Thursday May 7, both outdoors and indoors.
“J’ai dit oui, direct!”
“Since the grocery store was going to be used as a setting, I was asked to be an extra in the film. I said yes, straight away!”, smiles the woman who then has to take on a tailor-made role, that of a rural supermarket employee. “In one of the scenes, my character puts away tomatoes in the store and walks in front of the camera, with boxes. Since I had experience in this area, it suited everyone that it was me, this extra,” explains Anna, who knows a thing or two about the stalls. And to emphasize: “I even trained the actress Joséphine de Meaux, who played the role of the saleswoman at the checkout.”
« Jusqu’à 30 fois la même scène »
The opportunity to also meet on set the two other main actors of this dramatic comedy, Vincent Macaigne and Julia Piaton. “I was able to chat with Julia, someone simple and very nice, with whom I posed for a souvenir photo,†specifies the young extra, who shared lunch with the entire team, made up of around 70 professionals from all professions, in the “canteen†“, established near the municipal multipurpose room. “The day lasted from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., but it went by quickly. I also took part in two other big days of filming, from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., with around forty other extras, in the Rennes area. same scene several times, up to 30 times! You have to know how to conserve energy.”
I hope that the scenes where I appear will be retained for editing.
Sur grand écran in 2027
A great experience, which the young woman would very much like to discover on the big screen, on the occasion of the film’s theatrical release, announced for 2027. “I hope that the scenes where I appear will be retained in the editing. And maybe my name will be written in the credits? Until then, let’s zoom in on the daily life of the grocery store, and it’s far from being figurative!
