On Sunday, June 14th, the SOC rugby team plans to host the 10 km of Chambéry through the city, starting and finishing at the Chambéry Savoie Stadium. The event aims to celebrate the club’s 130th anniversary in 2026 and attract 5000 runners right from the start at 9 am. The race is open to all levels, from elite runners to beginners, families, and companies participating in a dedicated challenge.

The initiative is part of the club’s efforts to diversify its events, following the example of other top rugby clubs like Stade Toulousain and Aviron Bayonnais in promoting community engagement through sporting events.

It is worth noting that the 10 km race in Chambéry is different from the SOC rugby race and will take place during the city’s summer week festivities. The goal is to emulate the success of a similar race organized by another athletic club in Aix-les-Bains. The long-term plan is to make the 10 km race in Chambéry an annual spring event, with the Chambéry Savoie Stadium serving as a central hub for participants.

In Chambéry, there are already two similar events, the 10 km race during the Foire de Savoie in September and the Odyssea charity event in May, both organized by local athletic clubs in the area (1).

Registration for the 10 km of Chambéry, with a fee of 25 euros, will open on March 10th on the dedicated website www.10km-chambery.fr.
