Damien Boyer unveils his new documentary Anesthésia, which will be released in theaters on June 24. Ahead of this national release, the feature film will be presented in preview at the Millau cinema this Saturday, June 20 at 8 p.m. during a film debate. Nadine Galabrun, psychologist in Millau, will host this screening-debate on end-of-life support.
Damien Boyer has previously directed engaging documentaries, such as And I Choose to Live (2019), a film which retraces the journey of resilience of Amande, a mother who lost a child, who set out to meet other parents who had experienced the same ordeal. He also directed Sacerdoce, which attracted more than 100,000 spectators.
Filmed in Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Quebec, Scotland and France, Anesthésia’s theme is the end of life and its support, and also addresses the very current issue of the legislation of assistance in dying, without political or religious judgment or bias.
It is both an investigation carried out thanks to experts from these different countries (deputies, doctors, anthropologists…), and a human and joyful film despite the theme, thanks to testimonies from quite extraordinary families, who are not devoid of humor in the face of illness.
