Guest of C à vous with Grand Corps Malade, Styleto said she let her phone ring when he called her to suggest a duet.
Even artists can lose their means. Guest of It’s up to you this Wednesday, June 17 alongside Grand Corps Malade, the singer Styleto recounted the very particular circumstances of their first contact before the recording of their duet The next dream.
The title, revealed this Wednesday, will appear on See the seathe ninth album by Grand Corps Malade expected next September. On the set of France 5the two artists returned to the birth of this collaboration.
Grand Corps Malade explains that it quickly imagined a female voice to accompany this song built around the question of “Prochain rêve”. Her choice fell on Styleto, when the singer had just reached an important milestone in her young career.
“I then thought of Styleto because she had just achieved a dream, had just done a first tour and incredible concerts, Zenithâ€he said.
“I saw his number with his name and I was scared.”
When the singer calls him to propose the project, Styleto’s reaction is not what one might expect. “When he called me, I didn’t answer.”she revealed, smiling.
The singer explains that she was totally destabilized when she saw the artist’s name appear on her phone.
“I saw his number with his name and I was scared. So I just turned my phone over.”
Once the missed call is made, however, it is impossible to ignore the situation any longer.
“Afterwards I said to him: “Ah sorry, I’m busy, I’ll call you back†. And for twenty minutes, it was: “Call him back, call him back†. I was super impressed”she said to the laughter of the set.
“Un rêve de petite fille”
This apprehension can also be explained by the admiration she has had for Grand Corps Malade for a long time. “I think it was a dream to do this song with you.”she told him, visibly moved.
The opportunity for Styleto to look back on his own journey. As with many artists, the idea of making a living from music seemed inaccessible to him for a long time. “It was a little girl’s dream, I had the impression that it wasn’t possible for me.”a-t-elle confié.
The singer says she first prioritized her studies before returning to music a few years later. “I got caught up in life, especially in studies. And then I came back and I’m glad I dared.”
A choice which allowed him to experience a rapid rise, with a first album, Tearful girlreleased last year, then today a duet with one of the most popular artists on the French scene. For those who thought this dream was out of reach, picking up the phone was ultimately much more difficult than going on stage.
