The City of Carcassonne presented its budget devoted to culture for this year, which amounts to 7,200,549 euros.
“I think we are on a budget which is roughly equivalent to that of our predecessors,” explains Christophe Barthès, mayor of Carcassonne.

The municipality assures that, contrary to certain assertions relayed in recent months, the culture budget is maintained and does not decrease compared to previous years. It underlines a desire to continue to promote Carcassonne while remaining faithful to its identity.
In 2026, the municipality will remain partly linked to the commitments already made. “We made choices on certain levers. We asked to re-study what had not been signed by the previous municipality. Everything that was planned will be generally maintained. But next year, we will put in place our own program, more festive and focused on tradition”, details the city councilor.
It also recalls the municipality’s ambition to preserve heritage, to promote traditions, to transmit history and to bring to life the events which bring together the people of Carcasson.
