History, passion & excellence
Glass sculptor artist, Bastien Seldran has embarked on a major project alongside Nicolas Regenass, organizer of automobile events, and Christophe Gutknecht, manager of a high-end vehicle dealership in Monaco: organizing an elegance competition in Mulhouse. This major event presents prestigious cars, judged for their beauty, their state of conservation, their history and the presentation of their owner. An aesthetic competition that celebrates automotive heritage.
« The idea is born in September 2025, from the Villa des Hêtres Pourpres à Malmerspach, ancienne demeure des frères Schlumpf »
explains Bastien Seldran. He continues: “Passionate about old vehicles, these emblematic figures of the region have brought together the largest collection of cars in the world, exhibited in a former worsted wool spinning mill, today become the National Automobile Museum – Schlumpf Collection. It seemed obvious to us to include this highlight among the major events of this exceptional site, a true showcase of automotive heritage. The first edition of the Schlumpf International Concours d’Égance was officially launched during the 2026 Monaco Historic Grand Prix, on this occasion, the museum entrusted it. famous Bugatti Type 41 Royale Coupé Napoléon to HSH Prince Albert II A historic moment for an event which already promises to be unforgettable!

Exceptional vehicles
The Schlumpf International Concours d’Elegance highlights 8 prestigious automobiles per category: four official categories of the French Federation of Vintage Vehicles (before 1930, from 1931 to 1946, from 1947 to 1979 and from 1980 to 1995) and a new one, specially created for the event: from 1996 to 2026.

“The owners of each vehicle present their model before a jury of experts, chaired by Thierry Boutsen, former driver and F1 champion.”
says Bastien Seldran. He adds: “This stage takes place on Saturday June 27, followed by the awards ceremony the next day. Among the cars present, visitors will be able to admire a Lincoln Type L Torpedo from 1928, a Bugatti Type 57 Atalante from 1938 or even a Mercedes AMG Project one from 2023. For each of the official categories, the National Automobile Museum – Collection Schlumpf unveils a vehicle from its collection private, usually not visible to the general public. This is absolutely exceptional!
Prestigious entertainment
At the same time as the competition, a space dedicated to car manufacturers is offered. This area offers the public the opportunity to learn more about the history of major brands, such as Bugatti, Ferrari, Mercedes, Lamborghini, and to interact with them as they exhibit their emblematic vehicles: Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari F40…

“Parades punctuate the weekend, with a series of Bugatti Royales opening the show.”
adds Bastien Seldran. He continues: “Between the competition vehicles, models from manufacturers, regional clubs, private collectors and the museum, more than 200 cars take place on the autodrome. The event also welcomes automobile brands and craftsmen to a village dedicated to them so that they can present their products, services and know-how to visitors. Furthermore, to recreate the atmosphere of major international concours d’élegance, the public is invited to wear a classy outfit in keeping with the theme; the objective being to offer participants a completely immersive experience. This meeting promises to combine history, excellence, passion and conviviality in an exceptional setting to celebrate automotive art in all its forms! »
