The various offers are seeing their prices rise by one to two dollars. This is a common practice for the American company, which had already made a similar move in 2025.

Years go by and look alike for subscribers to the video-on-demand service, Netflix. Just like twelve months ago, the company has increased its prices. Specifically, American subscribers must now pay $8.99 per month for the ad-supported plan, up from $7.99 previously. For those who want the ad-free plan, the monthly fee increases to $19.99, a jump of two dollars. Finally, the premium plan now costs $26.99, up from $24.99.

For the moment, French customers are spared, but the respite may be short-lived. Last year, the price increase in the United States took four months to reach here. Currently, prices range from 7.99 euros for the plan with ads to 21.99 euros for the premium plan. Since its launch in France in 2014, the global streaming leader Netflix, with 325 million subscribers worldwide, has continually raised its prices. The basic plan with two screens cost 8.99 euros in 2014, before facing increases in 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021, and now 2025. Its price has soared by 67% in eleven years. The low-cost “Essential” plan, eliminated in 2024, was offered at 7.99 euros in 2014, and the Premium plan at 11.99 euros. The latter has seen its price increase by 83% between 2014 and 2025.

Aborted Warner Bros Acquisition

In recent months, Netflix has been in the spotlight for its attempted acquisition of Warner Bros. The company with the red N had submitted a $82.7 billion offer approved in December, only to be overtaken by the Paramount Skydance giant with a $110 billion bid. If successful, Netflix would have acquired the HBO Max streaming platform and some of Hollywood’s most iconic franchises, including Harry Potter and DC Comics. Warner Bros’ prolific television studio has also produced many successful shows aired on Netflix, including the original series “La Meneuse,” “You,” and “Maid.” The addition of HBO and its associated streaming platform would have further strengthened the prestigious catalog of the American giant and expanded its subscriber base.
