Âgé de 34 ans, Bertrand…
Aged 34, Bertrand Renaud was born in Bourges. After a degree and a master’s degree in contemporary history – “I was particularly marked by the meeting and testimony of former resistance fighters” – the young man moved into the political field. From 2020 to 2026, he was the 16th deputy mayor of the city of Tours, delegated to municipal archives and heritage. He notably worked around events on the Roman heritage of Tours.
Tired of big cities, he applied for the town hall of Saint-Jean-d’Angély. “I also have family ties to Rochefort and La Rochelle. I really like the living environment in Charente-Maritime,” says the director of the municipal culture department.
Cordeliers music school and museum
His roadmap? “I must continue the transformation of the music school into a conservatory, amplify the dynamics of the Cordeliers museum (currently under construction, it will reopen its doors at the beginning of 2027, Editor’s note),” continues the thirty-year-old. In the longer term, he will study the possible introduction of free access to the media library, as is already the case for the Cordeliers museum.
The new Angérian is delighted to discover the Vals de Saintonge. “I was very well received, in particular by Cyril Chappet, deputy mayor for culture, and Antoine Sirdey, general director of municipal services.†His experience as an elected official is a plus. “Here, I find the ideal conditions for my first position as director of culture,” underlines this single person who is fond of hiking and heritage.
