Now located at 21, rue de la République, in the former Brégeon hotel, in the heart of the bastide town of Villefranche, in Aveyron, Atelier Blanc opens a new chapter in its history.
As a prelude to its inauguration, Atelier Blanc opened its doors to the public on Thursday June 11 at the end of the afternoon, for a friendly moment around a culinary installation imagined by Oriane Journeau. Elected officials, institutional representatives, players in community and cultural life as well as many members of the association responded to this invitation.
Designed as a place of discovery, exchange and meeting, this new space will bring together all of the structure’s activities. “It is a desire of the municipal team to welcome the Atelier Blanc to the center of the bastide, as part of the revitalization of the heart of the city,” underlined Jean-Michel Bouyssié, deputy for culture, saluting in passing the work accomplished for many years by the volunteers and employees of the association.

Comments shared by Éric Cantournet, departmental advisor, who welcomed this new establishment. The sub-prefect, Catherine Loupion, also welcomed a cultural project which naturally finds its place in this remarkable 18th century residence: “I deeply believe in culture as a vector of social bond”, she particularly supported.
For Martine Estival, president of Atelier Blanc, this installation marks an important step: “It’s a new start. For the moment, we are investing in the ground floor, then we will gradually open the floors to the public. Each place engages in a new project. Here, heritage dialogues with contemporary art, questions the past while opening new perspectives. The exhibitions will take on a particular dimension in this exceptional setting.”
22 ans après sa création
The founders of Atelier Blanc, Pierrette and André Villemagne, who were particularly honored during this evening, expressed their satisfaction at seeing the adventure continue twenty-two years after its creation in their place of life on the banks of the Aveyron: “We are very happy to see Atelier Blanc enter a new phase of its development. We have taken great pleasure in working to disseminate contemporary art to all audiences and are proud to see that Atelier Blanc continues to grow today.”

The Atelier Blanc team would like to warmly thank the municipality as well as all the municipal agents involved in the renovation of this remarkable building.

A first exhibition
The next exhibition, “ Balade à quatre temps pour un été ”, will be held from June 17 to September 20. It will bring together the works of Iris Frère, Léo Mouysset, Enzo Roulleau-Bret and Cassandre Fournet, winners of the Public Prize of the Young Creation Prizes.
Open to the public from Tuesday to Saturday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., as well as Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Free entry. Reception possible by appointment.
