Families, teachers and the numerous partners associated with the project were seated in the room, all gathered to salute the journey of these young Jurançonnais who agreed to go beyond the traditional framework of the classroom in order to better understand the notions of commitment, responsibility and service.

Training the citizens of tomorrow

Supported by a close partnership with the Center for National Service and Youth (CSNJ), this Defense Class is based on a simple idea: the School not only transmits knowledge, it also contributes to training the citizens of tomorrow.

Over the course of the school year, students discovered the missions of the armies, met women and men engaged in the service of the country, visited different sites and participated in several memorial actions. These experiences allowed them to approach national history differently and to better understand the values of respect, solidarity and commitment which underpin this system.

During the ceremony, the principal of the establishment recalled that rights are always accompanied by duties and that civic engagement is built from a very young age. A message that echoes the very spirit of this Defense Class.

The diplomas were then presented by Ms. Ferrandez, head of the CSNJ service, before the National Service and Youth Center also offered a trophy to the Defense Class in order to salute the involvement of the students and the quality of the partnership developed with the college. A first promotion which now opens the way for those who will succeed it.

A prestigious patronage

This first promotion was also placed under the patronage of the Corps franc Pommiès, an emblematic unit of the Resistance in the South-West during the Second World War. By choosing this name, the college wanted to place the students in the legacy of women and men who embodied courage, solidarity and commitment to the service of freedom and the Republic.
