This Friday, June 12, 2026 marks the return of GENER8ION, a joint project by producer Surkin and director Romain Gavras. It is a multidisciplinary and ambitious work that combines music, imagery and contemporary culture. Tsugi talk about it.

GENER8ION responded to the famous Friday meeting, the traditional day of releases of the week. To accompany this disc, the duo revealed the clips of two notable tracks: “Storm” and “Love & Tears”.

Visual experimentation

Surkin began his career in the mid-2000s. His first EP, released in 2006, allowed him to become known on a global scale, before the release of his studio album, USAin 2011. With GENER8ION, the French producer pushes his creativity towards unexplored territories. Thanks to his collaboration with Romain Gavras, his music merges intimately with image and contemporary art. Through this brand new album, GENER8ION shows how the margins and codes of an artistic universe can be questioned and reinvented.

The first clip, published on April 24, 2026, illustrated the song “Storm”. We discovered the students of a British boys’ school performing a hypnotic choreography signed by Damien Jalet. This video met with immense success with the public, quickly exceeding 14 million views.

More recently, the group unveiled the music video for the eponymous title, “Love & Tears”. The video relies entirely on the gaze of actress Charlize Theron who, throughout the song, stares intensely at the viewer, straight in the eyes. She goes through a multitude of dramatic states, oscillating subtly between joy and sorrow.

A collaborative, personal and melancholy album

Beyond the purely visual impact of its clips, this project stands out above all for its intimate and personal musical approach. The record flirts with a wide diversity of genres: we come across rap, techno and house as well as pop and rock. In short, GENER8ION composes its music without imposing the slightest barrier.

To enrich this universe, the duo surrounded themselves with prestigious guests such as Yung Lean, Yannis Philippakis from Foals, 070 Shake, Adèle Castillon and SebastiAn. The result is an album charged with melancholy, love and emotion, supported by a strong visual identity which concretizes the overall ambition of the project.
