The American president was pleased to have finalized an agreement with Iran to end the war, this Monday, June 15. The Iranian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs confirmed for his part that the agreement was real and that the strikes would stop.

More than three months after the start of the conflict, Iran and the United States have managed to reach an agreement to end hostilities, announced Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, mediator between the two countries, on the night of Sunday to Monday June 15. “The agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete,” Donald Trump wrote on his Truth Social network.

Iran, for its part, assured that this agreement will “immediately end the war”. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi added on state television that this agreement meant “the immediate and definitive end of the war and military operations on the various fronts, including in Lebanon”, relays BFMTV. He also praised the results of this war: “The enemy, who attacked to carry out his malicious designs, saw all his objectives reduced to nothing, and the Islamic Republic of Iran achieved great victories in this war.”

A signing expected Friday in Geneva

On X, Emmanuel Macron welcomed this agreement. “I call for its rapid and complete implementation by all belligerents,” he added, stressing that “this agreement must allow the urgent and unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.”

This peace agreement between the two countries must be signed on Friday June 19, in Geneva. JD Vance, the US vice president, will attend. The presence of Donald Trump is not guaranteed but it remains “possible”.
