Last Thursday, the Mirepoix cinema hosted the screening of new short films made as part of the “I can’t, I’m short!” project. from Mirepoix college. The evening was a great success with a large audience who came to discover the six films made by the students, two of which were recently awarded prizes at the Rencontres lycéennes video de Bagnères-de-Bigorre.

The students of 3e1, 4e2, 4e3 as well as those of the cinema club in turn made the audience laugh, think, tremble, cry and dream. In short, they made cinema.

Supervised by their teachers Emmanuelle Christol-Veillet and Eva Ménérat, as well as by Loïc Marchand, cinema speaker from the La Biz’Art’Rit association, the students carried out real creative work, from writing the scripts to filming and at the final screening. This evening allowed us to once again measure the richness of the exchanges between the students of the 2025-2026 class and the public, who came in large numbers to applaud them.

Beyond the quality of the films presented, this meeting recalled the importance of cultural projects within educational establishments. They allow students to develop their creativity, their critical thinking, their ability to work together and express their emotions.

The presence of external stakeholders like Loïc Marchand brings valuable wealth and irreplaceable experience to these projects. This evening showed, once again, how culture fully participates in the discovery, openness and self-construction of young people.

Congratulations to all the students participating in this wonderful evening of cinema, greeted by a delighted audience.
