Six decades since the MLC, better known as “Pumpkin”, has become the meeting point for many Cessonnais and Verdionysiens who come to have fun there. Created in 1966 by the inhabitants of Cesson for the young people of the town, it was first a youth center, then a Youth and Culture Center before becoming a Leisure and Culture Center.
“La Citrouille is a socio-cultural center which, despite its 60 years and because of its experience, supports the inhabitants of Cesson and Vert-Saint-Denis with constantly renewed vitality,” explains Catherine Benoît, co-president of the structure.
Plus de 700 adhérents
Subsidized by the Intercommunal Culture Union created by the two municipalities, and faithful to the values of popular education enshrined in its statutes, the MLC offers the possibility of practicing a multitude of socio-cultural activities accessible to all. A place of conviviality and citizenship, it has become over time a unique place where culture and leisure are brought together for the benefit of the inhabitants.
“La Citrouille has been promoting social bonds for 60 years, strengthening diversity and intergenerationalism while fighting against isolation. In 1966, this place was created to exclusively welcome young people, in 2026 residents of all ages, all social origins and all cultures frequent it regularly. We offer around forty activities to more than 700 adhérentsthe youngest of which are newborns! “, rejoices Catherine Lussiez, coordinator of the MLC.
“Friendly, open to all and deeply human, we wish to celebrate the MLC as it should be: with an unforgettable anniversary day where members, residents, leaders and elected officials will gather, on Sunday June 14 from 2:30 p.m. to midnight. Throughout the afternoon, children and adults can have fun with a multitude of activitiesactivities and shows including a laser show which will end this beautiful day,” she continues.
Participation in the shows will be free and the activities free. However, a few points of sale for “Do-it-yourself” items will be offered as well as snacks during the day and a food truck in the evening.
