The United States targeted Iran on the night of Wednesday June 10 to Thursday June 11, which defended itself by targeting Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait with its missiles. The escalation is such that a diplomatic outcome is slipping away, while the Revolutionary Guards regime has decided to resume the blockade of the strategic Strait of Hormuz “until further notice”.
In the middle of the evening, the American Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, promised “strikes (…) of great intensity and executed with precision”. This was done at 11:15 p.m. (Paris time), with the launch of “new defensive strikes against targets in Iran” in order to “retaliate to the unjustified and persistent aggression of Iran”, specified the American army cited by Le Monde.
Night of bombing
All night long, American missiles mainly targeted the south of Iran up to several sites near the capital, Tehran, injuring three Iranians during the night, according to the testimony of the head of emergencies in the province of Tehran, authenticated by Le Monde. An escalation which caused part of the international scene to react, demanding an immediate end to bilateral bombings.
In response, Iran targeted American bases located in its neighboring countries in the Middle East: Bahrain, Kuwait and then Jordan. With the help of its drones, the Iranian Regime targeted “18 important targets” including the headquarters of the 5th American fleet in Bahrain, injuring an 11-year-old child.
Iran also bombed the bases of Ali Al-Salem and that of Ahmad Al-Jaber in Kuwait; the monarchy has also decided to close its airspace for a few hours. Jordan, for its part, came under fire from ballistic missiles targeting the American air base of Azraq and claims to have shot down 20 Iranian missiles, notes Le Parisien.
Strait of Hormuz and ceasefire under threat
In the meantime, the Revolutionary Guards have decreed the closure “until further notice” of the Strait of Hormuz to all ships (oil tankers, merchant cargo ships, etc.) in response to “repeated violations of the ceasefire”, despite the rebuttals from the US military. “(Vessels) having obtained a passage permit are asked to be patient and wait for the next directives”, specifies on X the Iranian authorities in charge of navigation in the Persian Gulf.
On the morning of Thursday, June 11, the Iranian Foreign Ministry warned its neighbors that their collaborations with the “American terrorist army” proved their complicity with “aggressive operations against Iran.” One way for the Revolutionary Guards to warn that future strikes are not excluded, considering the “ceasefire of April 8, 2026 practically meaningless” since the exchanges of fire over the last two days.
