Nearly 170 people, out of the more than 700 members of the CFDT Defense Lorient union (personnel from Naval Group and the Ministry of the Armed Forces – Minarm – from the Lann-Bihoué bases in Ploemeur and marine riflemen and commandos from Lanester), met this Friday, June 12 2026, at the Moustoir show. A day marked by the presentation, by Audélor, of his study on the weight of the French Navy and the Defense industry in the local economy. The opportunity for Laurent Le Maux, its general secretary, to underline the growing weight of the union. “There is a good dynamic. We are developing and getting younger. We feel that there is a growing interest among young people.”
He notes growing concerns “about purchasing power, working conditions and the lack of professional recognition.” As a result, according to him, the young civilian personnel of the Ministry of the Armed Forces “that we have trained, prefer to go and work in industry”. Hence the demand for an increase in the index point. On the issue of asbestos, the union wants “broader recognition”. And he reformulates his request to maintain the maintenance of Atlantic 2 replacements in Ploemeur. “We have known and recognized expertise,” recalls Jean-Luc Le Gouic (Minarm branch).
Anticipate hiring
For Naval Group, the union welcomes the choice of Sweden. “It’s an intention to order, now we have to validate this offer,” says Laurent Elie. The deputy general secretary changed questions to Naval Group regrets the management’s choice “not to anticipate hiring”, necessary according to him, “to respond to orders”. On the salary side, he asks for “a better distribution of wealth”. Laurent Elie also wants negotiated agreements on issues of hardship and retraining. “The health and safety of personnel is a subject. “A company has nothing to gain by not putting this in place.”
