George Clooney creates an event in this charming Provençal village of 2,300 inhabitants

Before obtaining French nationality in December 2025, George Clooney purchased a 170-hectare wine estate and a 900 m2 house in the town of Brignoles, located in the Var department, in 2021. Since then, the American actor has spent a good part of his time there with his wife, Amal Clooney, and children.

Well integrated into Provençal life, the one who starred in the film Jay Kelly available on Netflix since December 5, 2025, caused a sensation a few days ago in another village located in the Bouches-du-Rhône department.

George Clooney like a fish in water in Châteauneuf-le-Rouge

On June 4, 2026, the village of Châteauneuf-le-Rougelocated about fifteen kilometers from Aix-en-Provence, hosted a charity gala organized by the Aix Rotary club, for the benefit of the Soleil Bleu Azur association. Several celebrities, such as Jamel Debbouze, François Cluzet, Gérald Jugnot and Patrick Timsit, took over the Château de la Galinière for this exceptional evening.

Faced with these beautiful people, the 2,300 inhabitants of the town have also retreateda surprise visit from George Clooneywho happily took part in the game of selfies and handshakes, stealing the spotlight from the other celebrities. After this friendly moment, the actor returned to his table and was able to enjoy the event, aware however of having caused excitement in this Provençal village.

George Clooney’s investment in Provençal life

This is not the first time that George Clooney has been in a village in the south of France other than the one in which he took up residence. On February 10, 2024, the actor went to the starred restaurant “Chez Bruno”, located in the town of Lorgues. The head of the establishment, Benjamin Bruno, immortalized this moment by publishing a photo of him and the actor on Instagram. “Always a pleasure to welcome this great artist into our house,” he wrote in the caption.

George and Amal Clooney have invested in the local community on several occasions. In particular, they made a donation of 20,000 euros to the town of Brignoles in order to help with its reconstruction following floods, and hosted a municipal farm on their land.

“Growing up in Kentucky, all I wanted was to get away from a farm, to escape that life,” George Clooney confided in an interview with New York Times in February 2025. Now I find myself in this life again. I drive a tractor and all that! It’s the best chance to have a normal life.”
