Around 2 p.m. (Paris time), the first reports came in. Error messages when connecting, frozen news feeds, pages impossible to load: Facebook has failed millions of users spread across several continents. Instagram followed suit.
Downdetector recorded more than 300,000 incident reports for Facebook in just a few minutes. On the Instagram side, the counter has crossed 20,000. Europe, the United States and Asia are among the most affected areas.
Nothing, for now. The group’s official status page displays normal operation of all of its services, while millions of subscribers see the opposite. No press release has been published at the time of writing.
A group accustomed to cuts
The last notable outage dates back to May 26, 2026, on the Meta Audience Network advertising network. Several similar episodes have punctuated the previous months.
