March Madness: An eighth grader from Pittsburgh is leading the NCAA Women’s Bracket
The final days of March Madness are upon us, and while millions of brackets have been busted, one 14-year-old student from suburban Pittsburgh is living his basketball dream. Otto Schellhammer is the only person, out of millions, who still has a perfect bracket in ESPN’s NCAA tournament challenge for both the men’s and women’s competitions. His record stands at an impressive 48-0 after the first weekend of the women’s tournament. With the Sweet 16 round approaching, Otto is aiming to extend his streak to 56-0. The record to beat in ESPN’s contest is 57-0. The odds of achieving a flawless bracket are extremely slim – estimated by most mathematicians to be around 1 in 28 billion.
