Not a day goes by without hearing about widespread and unintelligible planetary chaos. However, when we make the effort to lucidly look at the reality of things, we see that all the conflicts that cross us, whether real or latent, are in reality part of a history, even recent, perfectly intelligible. Furthermore, in the midst of this state of entropy in which we think we live, we must note the incredible vitality of the logic of adaptation and resilience.

If we examine the four major real or latent conflicts that occupy our attention, we see that they all arise from processes that are not only perfectly intelligible but largely predictable. Let’s start with the one closest to us, the war in Ukraine. She obviously surprised us with her ferocity. But the sources of this conflict have been clearly identified for several decades. It does not arise only from the danger represented by Ukraine’s accession to NATO, but also from its rapprochement with the European Union since at least 2013.
