The only thing that annoys me about it is the nepo babies who try to defend themselves from being nepo babies“, she said. Comments which contrast with the discourse usually given by certain heirs of well-known personalities. For Louise Chabat, recognizing the privileges linked to her original environment does not amount to denying her work or her skills. On the contrary.
The daughter of the former member of Les Nuls simply believes that it is important to embrace the advantages she enjoyed from the start. “That doesn’t take anything away from your talent, it doesn’t take anything away from your success, but you have to recognize that you have had a cultural, social, financial heritage, codes, contacts, ease, a way of speaking…“she explained.
And added: “Me, I feel privileged but I feel legitimate in what I do but we must not deny that we start with a base, with financial security when we want to pivot, when we want to change career, when we want to train, when we want to take risks, we know that we have a safety net if we screw up, everyone doesn’t actually have that.“
Alain Chabat’s daughter builds her own path
If Louise Chabat readily recognizes the influence of her family environment, she also recalls that her career cannot be summed up by her famous surname. The general public was able to see him in several of his father’s projects, notably On the Marsupilami trail or even Santa & Cie. An exposure that allowed him to discover the world of cinema from a very young age.
But over the years, the young woman gradually chose a different path. Very active on Instagram, she wants to be a committed voice around body positivity and mental health. She regularly shares her experience as a young mother and does not hesitate to address subjects that are still too little discussed publicly, notably postpartum.
