Agde: a week dedicated to culture, heritage and entertainment

From June 8 to 14, the Agathois Archipelago offers a particularly rich program combining heritage, archaeology, music, sport and contemporary art.

Between international conferences, concerts, exhibitions and popular events, the Agathois city confirms its cultural dynamism as the summer season approaches.

One of the highlights of the week will be devoted to the European Archeology Days, organized from June 11 to 14.

On this occasion, the Palais des Congrès du Cap d’Agde will host a real archeology village in partnership with Inrap. The public will be able to discover the exhibition “Greek Agde: archaeological discoveries from the Rhône to the Pyrenees”, enriched with mediations provided by students of the Jules Verne school. An exceptional conference by the president of Inrap, Dominique Garcia, is also scheduled for Thursday June 11 around the history of Greek Agde.

Culture will also be in the spotlight with the international conference devoted to Art Nouveau, organized on June 10 and 11 at Château Laurens.

Specialists from different backgrounds will explore the influences that nourished this major artistic movement, from Egypt to Japan via the Orient.

On the music side, Saturday June 13 promises to be particularly lively.

The second edition of Rock’In Agde will bring together nearly a hundred singers and musicians for a giant open-air concert on La Promenade. Throughout the day, a village dedicated to the rock universe will host musical highlights, food trucks and festive activities. The same day, the Saint-Sever church will host the “Carte blanche to Francine Guilhem” concert, dedicated to the great works of sacred music.

Sport will not be left out with the first edition of Green Volley 2026, organized on Sunday June 14 at the Champs Blancs complex. Around a hundred teams from all over Occitania will compete in this grass tournament which will bring together adult and young players in several categories.

At the same time, several exhibitions continue to enliven the city’s cultural venues. At the Musée de l’Éphèbe, the “Greek Agde” exhibition reveals more than a hundred archaeological objects, often unpublished. Château Laurens is hosting the “Boléro Ravel” exhibition designed by the Philharmonie de Paris, while the Municipal Archives offers a photographic journey between past and present with “Agde, photographers of yesterday, views of today”. Finally, the monumental sculptures of Art Lab City will take over the streets of the city center and the Belle-Isle park until the fall.

Between heritage promotion, artistic dissemination and general public events, this week in June illustrates the desire of the City of Agde to promote its cultural identity while offering residents and visitors a diversified and accessible program.
