Between Piedicroce and the neighboring villages of Ped’Orezza and Rapaghju, three days of discoveries, meetings and exchanges are at the heart of the Horizons festival which proudly bears its name by opening itself to diverse horizons, ranging from tradition to live showof the youth workshops to round tables.

The local public is there. Sitting on a bench in the cool of the Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Paul church, François Marcelli and his wife did not allow themselves to be distracted from the conference given inside the religious building and played outside. We talk about genealogy: “E vostre casate. The family names of the pieve of Orezza, Corsica genealogy and its president André Flori. A theme which this couple orezzincu to make the trip: “It’s important for us to be present at these kinds of events which bring life to our villages and give us access to culture. We had a great time and listened to the conference with great interest. Because it is work that we carried out as a family and which allowed us to identify the members of the Marcelli family up to 1641.”

Chestnut cultivation, the common thread of the workshops

The day before, the Orizonti festival opened its doors to children, with workshops, one of which was dedicated to the chestnut grove. “This day was a success with more than 200 children, and proved to be of very good quality due to the workshops offered, many of which were bilingual and even offered in total immersion, emphasizes Stéphane Orsini, head of the service ”Patrimoine” of the community of municipalities of the Castagniccia-Casinca. We imagined them for one of our flagship projects relating to chestnut cultivation. Many establishments in the area have signed up to this program, particularly rural schools, which fully satisfies us.”

During the general public days, the round tables, in particular that of this Sunday, June 7 with the Collectivity of Corsica and its partners in the European Castour project, the question of the natural, cultural and sustainable cross-border route will be discussed. Always with the key, the promotion of chestnut culture.

Winning return to Pedicroce

Orizonti thus made its return to Pedicroce, where the history of this traveling festival began. A central town, formerly capital of the parish of Orezzawhich has the necessary spaces for such programming, which aims to travel from year to year, in Ampugnani, and Casacconi, with a small branch in the neighboring villages, as is the case this year in Rapaghju and Ped’Orezza, towns bordering the town center.

And in terms of entertainment, the stage was entrusted to the Orizonti group (eponymous of the event), to Supplement Cheese and Jean-Charles Papi. For the closing of this 5th edition of the Orizonti festival, the pop rock of the Guest band will be on the bill. Three evenings in the same festive spirit, faithfully spread throughout these cultural events.
