The days follow one another and are similar in southern Lebanon with new Israeli strikes. The IDF continues its offensive against Hezbollah. For its part, the pro-Iranian Shiite movement continues to fire rockets towards Israel. However, on the night of Wednesday June 3 in Washington, the Lebanese and Israelis agreed to a cease-fire conditional on the complete cessation of Hezbollah fire, an agreement welcomed by the American president.“We spoke to Hezbollah for the very first time. We didn’t know they were talking. They agreed yesterday. They are not going to shoot. Israel is not going to shoot. We will see.”a indiqué Donald Trump.

While traveling in Montenegro, Emmanuel Macron was also optimistic. “We support the ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel and everything that indeed allows restoring peace, combating terrorist activities and fully establishing the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon”at-il déclaré.

There have already been ceasefires between the two parties since April 17, but they have never held. Thursday June 4, Israel claims to reserve complete freedom of action. In a press release, the leader of Hezbollah, Naïm Qassem demands a global agreement and the Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon. Everyone therefore remains in their positions. In Beirut, residents do not believe in a possible end to the fighting. “Given our past experience with Israel, once it begins an occupation, it does not withdraw quickly”; “Neither Israel nor the United States can be trusted,” declare several residents.

On the morning of Thursday June 4, a blue helmet of Serbian nationality was killed after being hit by a projectile on the UN base in southern Lebanon, an investigation was opened.
