Tuesday, May 26, the CE2‒CM1‒CM2 students from the Goujounac school, accompanied by their teacher Céline Chaoui, received the prize won in the “ Occitane Literary Culture Challenge 2026 ” competition, presented by Cindy Manso, educational advisor Regional Language and Culture. This project, which is celebrating its 7th year, aims to promote the Occitan language and culture among Lot students.
T-shirts, pens and eco-cups in the colors of Occitanie made up the lot offered by the Maison de la Région de Cahors, partner of the competition. Throughout the year, primary classes in Lot received tales from Occitan literature, this edition being dedicated to pastoralism. The students worked on reading and comprehension in French or Occitan, depending on the cultural or linguistic objectives of the classes.
Twelve classes and nearly 250 students from Assier, Gramat, Goujounac, Puy-l’Évêque, Saint‒Céré and Saint‒Laurent‒les‒Tours participated in the project before embarking on the creation of a Lotois pastoral adventure. Each class sent its illustrated story, then the students themselves formed the jury and awarded points to establish the final ranking.
This year, “The Shepherd of Goujounac”, imagined by CE2, CM1, CM2, won 3rd place. The bilingual CM1‒CM2 from Assier won the competition with “ Elisa and the water dragon ”, followed by the bilingual MS‒GS from Saint‒Céré with “ Alicia the poor shepherdess ”.
The Goujounac students are proud of their creation and the prizes received. Congratulations to all participants!
