Director Tran Le Minh: Children have many options for entertainment, but lack opportunities for self-discovery.

In summer, children need to have fun!

Faced with the explosion of digital platforms and the proliferation of entertainment options, the question of cultural spaces for children, reading habits and the development of aesthetic sense is becoming a subject of major concern.

In an interview with a journalist from the online daily Cong Luan, director Tran Le Minh, producer of the show “Sparkling Summer 2026”, declared that today’s children are no longer content to watch, but want to participate, interact and integrate to history. According to him, this is the major change in the cultural expectations of the current generation.

With “Sparkling Summer 2026”, the director said the team did not want to create a purely entertainment program for International Children’s Day on June 1. The team aspired to something deeper: to create an emotional journey where each child could recognize themselves in the story of “Little Soleil”.

During the writing of the script, the team noticed that today’s children have access to a multitude of content to watch, games and entertainment platforms. But what they sometimes lack is the feeling of being listened to, of being recognized and of believing in their own value.

This is why the character of “Little Sun” is not presented as an exceptional person. According to director Tran Le Minh, she symbolizes many ordinary children, who may not be the most confident or talented, but who nevertheless possess a unique light if they are loved and encouraged properly.

The current generation is growing up in a radically different environment than previous generations. If digital technology offers unprecedented access to knowledge, it simultaneously generates an invisible pressure for success, distinction and self-recognition.

From a very young age, many children are familiar with rankings, the success criteria conveyed by social networks, or even the perfect models of success that appear daily on the screens of their phones. In this context, many children unintentionally develop the habit of comparing themselves to others.

“Every child has their own unique value and can shine in their own way,” said director Tran Le Minh.

The “Sparkling Summer 2026” program does not only aim to provide hours of laughter. His real interest lies in creating experiences where children have the opportunity to express themselves, are encouraged to overcome their shyness and feel the joy of being recognized.

The highlight of the program is therefore the opening of the “Little Nuage de Soleil Library” – a completely free project which allows children around the world to access a veritable mine of books, stories and classic works read aloud by famous people. famous, artists and inspiring figures adored by young children.

According to the director, the project is not intended to force children to “go back to books” the old-fashioned way, but rather to transform reading into an emotional, exploratory and interactive experience.

The development of technology has transformed the way children consume content. They respond quickly to images, sounds, rhythms and especially interactive experiences. They want to interact, react and participate in the story instead of just remaining passive. This is an inevitable development for a generation that is growing up with digital technology.

What worries the director the most is the paradox that characterizes current cultural life. “There is a lot of content for kids, but quality experiences are lacking,†he said.

While shopping malls, entertainment venues and online platforms are increasingly developing, real cultural spaces for children remain quite limited.

Not all children have the opportunity to access quality artistic activities, stimulating reading spaces, scientific experiential programs or age-appropriate community activities.

Furthermore, such experiences play a crucial role in building the personality and mental well-being of children.

Attending a children’s play, participating in a creative workshop, a family reading session or a community arts program can sometimes have a much more lasting impact than simple entertainment.

So the question is not only how to entertain children during the summer, but also what experiences they should have to help them grow and mature.

Investing in children’s culture is investing in the future.

For children, summer is not just about leisure and fun. It is also about developing their tastes and cultural sensitivity for future generations. At a time when children are exposed to a massive amount of information on a daily basis, aesthetic awareness is becoming an increasingly important mission.

Cultural appreciation does not develop innately. It is nourished by the books that children read, the films they watch, the artistic activities in which they participate and the cultural experiences to which they are exposed from a young age. Director Tran Le Minh believes that the most important thing is that families, schools and society consider summer as an essential stage in children’s development. It’s not just a school vacation; it is an opportunity for children to gain experience, broaden their horizons and nourish their spiritual life.

According to him, a simple reading session with a child, a visit to the museum, an artistic workshop or a community activity can sometimes leave an indelible mark. These seemingly innocuous experiences are essential to the development of self-confidence, empathy and creativity.
