We have to go back to 2016 to understand where Hamza Kadamani comes from. This year, his family left war-torn Syria and settled in Luxembourg. Hamza is seven years old. Nothing awaited him there, except a new life to build from scratch. Football was already present in his life. He joined FC Schifflange 95, a club in the south of the Grand Duchy, then Swift Hesperange and Racing FC Union Luxembourg for a few seasons. A classic training course in Luxembourg football, which does not attract the international spotlight but rather the side of the big club in the region. Last summer, FC Metz, the gateway to the professional world for players from the Grand Duchy, decided to recruit him into its youth teams. Frédéric Arpinon, sports director of the Lorraine club, was direct about it. “There is enormous potential in Luxembourg. I hope that we will quickly see another player emerge in the first team.”
Kadamani, young left winger of the 2009 generation must necessarily be one of them. His first appearance with a professional group came very quickly. In September 2025, during a friendly match easily won against US Strassen (7-1) by FC Metz, coach Stéphane Le Mignan gave him playing time. And the young striker did not miss his chance and found the net “It’s true that they showed a lot of good things. This is part of our sports policy and our strategy to integrate them. The door is open. It’s up to them to work well,” commented Arpinon, cautious, but visibly seduced by the new Metz generation. Since then, Kadamani has continued to progress, accumulating the matches and playing time necessary to reach the next level in the youth teams.
16 years old and called up with Luxembourg
His quality as a dribbler, his speed and his ability to be decisive in the last gesture have also convinced the staff of the Red Lions of Luxembourg to take the plunge since he has just been called up to the A selection during this end-of-season break. Having passed through the Luxembourg youth teams, Hamza Kadamani will therefore already experience a first as a professional at the age of 16. “Receiving my first call-up with the Luxembourg A team is an immense source of pride for me. This moment represents a lot after all these years of work, sacrifice and patience. Since I was little, football has been part of my life. At the age of seven, I had to leave Syria with my family because of the war. This difficult choice marked my life, but it also gave me even greater strength and motivation to move forward and pursue my dreams. Behind this summons, there are years of effort, discipline, fatigue and questioning. I had to put a lot of things aside to continue to believe in my goal, but I never stopped believing in myself and my work, even in the most complicated moments. (…) And above all, a huge thank you to my parents. For all the sacrifices since my childhood, for your love, your presence and your unfailing trust. Without you, none of this would be possible. This summons is also yours. I love you to”explained the main person concerned on his social networks.
A message that sums up the story of young Hamza Kadamani quite well. That of a child exiled because of the war who did not take long before turning it into a force. For its part, FC Metz, which makes this Luxembourg basin a strong axis of its training recruitment, with profiles like Brian Madjo (sold for 12 million to Aston Villa), Edson Lima or Diego Duarte, perhaps still has an interesting profile for the years to come. And if Luxembourg is not a great footballing nation, it must be remembered that the Red Lions have made a remarkable progress in recent years with historic victories against Iceland and Bosnia-Herzegovina. In this context, being called up at the age of 16 to represent this country that he adopted and which welcomed him is necessarily much more than a sporting achievement…
