Controversial appointments continue within the Trump administration. After the choice of the inexperienced but faithful Maga Bill Pulte to head intelligence, the American press is surprised by the recruitment of a Capitol rioter to a sensitive position in the Pentagon.
Elias Irizarry was 19 years old on January 6, 2021 when thousands of Donald Trump supporters invaded the Capitol to contest Joe Biden’s victory against their foe.
The man who was then a student at a military university in South Carolina had gone to Washington that day with two friends and joined the crowd of rioters. He then followed the crowd inside the Capitol by entering “through a broken window, armed with a metal bar, but did not hit anyone†, retrace The Washington Post.
The young man was, however, indicted for his participation in the insurrection.
“Irizarry pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of entering and remaining in a prohibited building or grounds and was sentenced to fourteen days in jail, according to court documents… specifies the daily life of the federal capital.
