Tensions between Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu? The American site Axios reported, Monday June 1, a heated telephone conversation between the President of the United States and the Israeli Prime Minister. Quoting an American official, the media claims that Donald Trump lost his temper when he noted that Benjamin Netanyahu wanted to bomb Beirut, the Lebanese capital, as part of the Israeli army’s offensive against Hezbollah: “T’es complètement cinglé”, the tenant of the White House told him, according to these reported comments.

“Everyone hates you now. Everyone hates Israel because of this.”

While Iran demands that any agreement with the United States include a ceasefire on the Lebanese front, Israel has intensified its military operations against Hezbollah. In addition to daily air strikes, mainly in southern Lebanon, the Israeli army is carrying out a deep military incursion into its neighbor. So many operations which thwart attempts at discussions between Tehran, ally of Lebanese Hezbollah, and Washington.

During this exchange, Donald Trump also referred to the support he gave to Benjamin Netanyahu, while the latter was facing justice for several corruption cases. “If it wasn’t for me, you’d be in jail. I’ll save the day.”summarized an Axios source, citing the remarks made by the American president during this tense exchange.

In the evening, Donald Trump finally announced on his Truth Social network that Benjamin Netanyahu had agreed to renounce, at his request, sending troops to Beirut. The Lebanese embassy in Washington then announced that Hezbollah had accepted an American proposal to “mutual cessation of attacks”. However, violence between the Israeli army and the Shiite militia resumed during the night.
