No pasaran – In order to better focus on the Champions League, Paris Saint-Germain has requested a postponement of their match against Lens.
Pierre Sage had launched the hostilities last Friday, after his team’s stroll against Angers (5-1) which temporarily allowed them to regain the top spot in the championship: “We do not agree,” the Parisian coach said. “I understand that having rest allows for better performance, but this is a very efficient club, involved in many competitions, so it knows the constraints.”
The reason for the anger of the Sang et Or technician: the request to postpone the Lens-PSG match, which could be decisive in the race for the French championship title by the capital club. Engaged in the quarter-finals of the Champions League against Liverpool, Paris wishes to postpone this match scheduled for April 11, right between the two matches against the Reds.
In a statement released on Monday evening in response to “the recent multiplication of statements, interventions, and various suggestions,” the Parisian club’s management indicated that “Racing Club de Lens, from the initial solicitations, informed Paris Saint-Germain of its intention not to see this date modified. [The club] remains committed to fairness, clarity of rules, and respect for all stakeholders. Simple principles, for fair and respectful French football.”
“We must respect Ligue 1”
Interviewed by L’Equipe on Wednesday, the general manager of Sang et Or, Benjamin Parrot, added: “We have nothing against l(…)”.
