Paris, a city recognized internationally for its cutting-edge gastronomy and its influence in the 7th art, finally has its festival bringing together these two worlds! Founded in Moscow by Katerina Drozdova in 2018, EatFilm, documentary film festival around the tablemakes its entry into France with a whole first edition from June 11 to 14with the chef Manon Fleury as ambassador. For a long weekend, a meeting place for gourmets and movie buffs from the capital, between the new hype spot in the 18th arrondissement, Le Ciney, and the Jardin des Traverses, an agri-cultural association nestled on the Petite Ceinture.
Le cinéma se met à table
With EatFilm, these are ten documentaries from seven different countries which are revealed before our eyes, with a simple axis: take the table as a starting point to talk about life. From a world porridge championship in the Highlands to the markets of Reunion Island,
through the know-how of fermentation and the demanding world of Michelin stars… The selection of films presented explores everything that food involves, between relationships, gestures and cultures. So many subjects that touch and thrill, talking about aging, death, rebirth, hunger, survival, but also excellence, commitment and the quest for identity. All of this, projected on the big screen of course, but also discussed during meetings with directors and filmmakersaround round tablesas well as with chefs who came to meet the public around beautiful dishes.
See you at Ciney!
Dix récits, une même affirmation : understand life and its value from what we eat. The EatFilm festival invites us to live this cinematic and gourmet experience in a brand new Parisian venue: Le Ciney. Cinema, restaurant, grocery store, performance hall… This new social and cultural complex of 1,500 m2 opened its doors at the end of April on Boulevard Ney. The ideal spot to host the event! The on-site restaurant makes it possible to offer Parisians residences of chefs, who cook dishes in resonance with each film projected during the day. Enough to extend the pleasure of the eyes to the taste buds. The little extra? The festival is also planning a special session on Friday June 12 at the Jardin des Traverses, with a free outdoor screening!
