Florent Pagny refuses controlled communication around his illness
When Florent Pagny learned that he was suffering from lung cancer in 2021, his professional entourage immediately wanted to take charge of communication. Production then asked him to manage the announcement in order to protect his image and control media reactions. However, the singer categorically refuses this strategy. “I didn’t want to, it wasn’t like me,†he confided to Soir Mag. True to his personality, he prefers to speak to his audience himself. Even though he rarely uses Instagram, he chooses this platform to publish a video without filter or prepared speech. At that time, Florent Pagny simply thought of addressing his subscribers, without imagining the media scale that this announcement would quickly take on.

Initially, he was already planning to leave the show after this season, before illness disrupted his plans. “Afterwards, I will leave everyone alone for a long time,†he previously declared to Télé-Star.
