The Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas denounced, Friday, May 29, the decision of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to order the army to extend its control over the Gaza Strip, despite the ceasefire concluded in October 2025. “In a blatant violation of all agreements, as usual, [Benyamin Nétanyahou] announced the extension of control to 70% of the Gaza Strip, even as the killings and famine continue”accused this spokesperson, Bassem Naïm.
In a separate statement, Hamas criticized the “silence total” of “Peace Council” of American President Donald Trump and his High Representative for Gaza, Nikolai Mladenov, on this issue. “The lack of condemnation of Israel’s expansionist policies and its plans for forced displacement raises serious questions about the real commitment of the guarantor parties to force Israel to respect its obligations.” under the ceasefire agreement, underlined the movement’s spokesperson, Hazem Qassem.
Under the terms of the fragile ceasefire, Israeli forces were to retreat behind a “yellow line”name given to the dividing line between the zone under Hamas control and that held by the Israeli army, which gave the latter control of a little more than 50% of the small territory.
