President Trump confirmed on Tuesday his statements from the day before about holding discussions with Tehran. He also specified that his envoy Steve Witkoff, his son-in-law Jared Kushner, vice president JD Vance, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio were involved in the discussions.

“This is exactly what I said yesterday,” Trump said during his address from the White House, confirming that the United States was indeed in talks with Iran on the 25th day of the Middle East conflict. “We are negotiating at the moment,” the American president stated, emphasizing the participation of the mentioned officials.

Regarding the possibility of reaching an agreement to end the war, Trump replied to the press, “I think we are going to end it. I can’t tell you for sure.” He mentioned that Iranian leaders seem willing to reach an agreement and appreciated a recent gesture from Iran as a significant gift.

Trump characterized the Iranian gesture as a positive development and hinted at maritime affairs in the Strait of Hormuz. He mentioned that the ‘gift’ was unrelated to nuclear issues but involved oil and gas, highlighting the importance of dealing with the right people.

Previously, Trump had announced a five-day delay in carrying out strikes on Iranian facilities if the Islamic Republic did not free the strategic waterway for global oil supply.

In a subsequent press exchange, Trump detailed that Washington and Tehran had found ‘major points of agreement’ in negotiations with a high-ranking official who was not Mojtaba Khamenei, the new Supreme Leader.
