With a surface area of more than 1,000m², this hub, unique in Europe, is at the heart of the group’s innovation system. Its ambition is to support, on an international scale, players in the food sectors facing rapidly changing health, regulatory and environmental requirements.
Kersia, a global expert in food safety and biosecurity, inaugurated its Center for Food Safety Excellence (CFSE) on May 20, 2026, in Seneffe (Belgium). This strategic site is dedicated to innovation, training and validation of solutions for the food and beverage industries.
With a surface area of more than 1,000m², this hub, unique in Europe, is at the heart of the group’s innovation system. Its ambition is to support, on an international scale, players in the food sectors facing rapidly changing health, regulatory and environmental requirements.
Bringing together R&D, a technological and application hall as well as a training space within the same building, the CFSE strengthens the positioning of the Kersia group as a world reference player in terms of innovation in food safety.
A strategic tool serving the food and beverage industry
With the Center for Food Safety Excellence (CFSE), Kersia is structuring an integrated system capable of covering the entire value chain of hygiene solutions, from their design to their industrial implementation. The site combines scientific research, application engineering in relation to the equipment and training, to respond in a manner concrete response to the growing challenges of health safety and operational performance.
The CFSE is based on three complementary spaces: an R&D laboratory (chemistry, microbiology, analyses), an applications hall equipped with industrial pilots and designed in direct connection with the Equipment Engineering teams, and training spaces. This organization makes it possible to develop formulations, test them in real conditions of use and optimize their deployment by integrating equipment parameters, processes and customer needs upstream.
The engineering dimension constitutes a key lever of the system. By combining chemical solutions, equipment and application parameters, teams can finely adjust conditions of use, make performance more reliable and accelerate the move to industrial scale. The value no longer resides solely in the product, but in its optimized and measured implementation.
The center thus makes it possible to transform scientific developments into operational solutions, tested, validated and directly applicable to the processes of customer sites, while supporting the increase in skills of internal teams, customers and partners.
“The CFSE is above all a place of work and experimentation. It allows us to test our solutions in conditions close to industrial reality, to measure their concrete impact and to train the teams, internal and those of our customers, partners in best food safety practices,” explains Benoît Duculot, Director of Innovation Kersia Belgium.
A center of expertise with international influence
Located in Seneffe (Belgium), on a strategic site developed by the group since 2020, the Center for Food Safety Excellence (CFSE) has established itself as an international hub dedicated to food safety. It supports Kersia’s activities in more than 140 countries by concentrating expertise, innovation capabilities and application resources.
Beyond its technical role, the CFSE is designed as a place for exchanges and collaboration, capable of bringing together the entire ecosystem of the group. Clients, industrial partners, experts, institutions and academic players are welcomed there to share concrete issues, test solutions and co-construct approaches adapted to field challenges.
This positioning as a collaborative platform helps accelerate the development and dissemination of best practices in food safety. The site is not limited to producing innovation, it organizes its circulation and appropriation on an international scale, thus strengthening Kersia’s role as a reference player in Europe and beyond
Accelerate innovation and anticipate sector challenges
The CFSE aims to respond to several structuring challenges for the agri-food sectors: strengthening health safety throughout the food chain, supporting manufacturers in their environmental transitions and anticipating European and international regulatory developments.
“Food safety has become a major strategic issue for the agri-food and beverage sectors. With the Center For Food Safety Excellence, Kersia is strengthening its capacity to innovate, test and demonstrate its solutions, in order to sustainably support our customers around the world. All the necessary expertise is brought together in this place, interconnected with our international network of Group innovation laboratories, to anticipate the future challenges of food safety,” underlines Sébastien Bossard, President of Kersia.
A site designed according to demanding environmental standards
The Center for Food Safety Excellence was designed from the outset according to demanding environmental standards. The building is aiming for BREEAM “Very Good†certification and incorporates concrete choices: absence of gas, use of heat pumps, materials with low carbon impact and optimized management of resources.
