The season is coming to an end at the Conservatory where students and teachers are putting the finishing touches to the concerts which will animate several stages of the department in the coming weeks, while the administrative staff will be working on the registration of new students from June 15.
Putting collective practice at the heart of musical teaching: this is the leitmotif of the Departmental Radiation Conservatory of Aveyron (CRDA), which also works to disseminate these lessons throughout the territory, through its fifteen branches spread throughout the department. Branches where 61 equivalent teachers take turns full-time (FTE) However, if all these branches offer artistic music education, only in Rodez is theater also taught, from the age of six, compared to four years for music.
More than 3,500 student musicians each year
Each year, around 1,200 students follow training at the Conservatoire, to which are added nearly 2,500 additional students from the schools of the voluntary department through the Cham (classes with arranged music times) and the Hors les Murs system. And while the CRDA is preparing for its end-of-season concerts, including the expected return of symphony evenings (see below), all administrative staff are in the starting blocks for the registration campaign which will open on June 15 in the department’s fifteen branches.
“Dare to open the doors of the CRDA of Aveyron!”indicate in this sense the educational and artistic director Marie-Amélie Moreau and the president of the mixed union, Christian Tieulié, before the rush of registrations. “As for the re-registration campaign, it is already underway”warns Marie-Amélie Moreau. In addition to individual instrument lessons and musical training courses, students practice music in instrumental or vocal ensembles and participate in concerts organized as part of the cultural season. All aesthetics are offered: classical music, jazz, current music, traditional music, etc.
Musical awakening from the age of four
“And as for the instrument, you just have to make your choice as the range of instruments taught on site is wide, between the harp, the flute, the drums, the trombone, the tuba, singing and many others”complete Christian Tieulié, in particular that “the musical garden and the awakening welcome little ones from the age of 4”.
As for theater, it comes in three courses adapted to each age and each project, from the age of six. “The study course allows acting students to validate a diploma and start theater training which could allow them to pursue more advanced studies in dramatic art”explains Marie-Amélie Moreau. She concludes by specifying that “the Conservatory is open to all within the limits of available places”. Several prices are offered depending on the family quotient and the number of children from the same family registered.

The orchestra in concert three evenings
Having become one of the major events of the Conservatory over the years, the symphony evenings are back for three dates: Sunday, at 5 p.m., at the Saint-Affrique village hall; on June 14, at 5 p.m., at the cultural center of Sainte-Geneviève-sur-Argence and on June 17, from 8:30 p.m., at the La Baleine room, in Onet-le-Château. Made up of around fifty musicians from the CRDA, the symphony orchestra works throughout the school year on a repertoire made up of classical, contemporary works and film music. New this year, the orchestra will play with a jazz quartet an original musical work by Nicolas Dru, artist composer and teacher at the CRDA. A score specially written for his symphony orchestra which will be played for the first time in public on May 31. Free participation. Reservation recommended via pole.nord@crd-aveyron.fr (for June 14); via pole.centre@crd-aveyron.fr (for June 17) and on site for May 31.
