Bridge is asserting itself in the four corners of Corsica. Last year, it was even the greatest increase in the number of new licenses in France. The Ajaccio international bridge festival was held this weekend at the Gulf of Lava.
Filled shop terraces at the end of May, nothing very unusual. Except that it is not tourists having lunch who occupy the tables, but bridge players. A popular card game in seaside resorts in particular.
For 3 days, 120 players from France and the four corners of the European continent have been involved in the Ajaccio international bridge festival organized in the Gulf of Lava. The culmination of the work carried out by the Ajaccio Imperial Club.
The report by Jean-Philippe Mattei and Marion Fiamma:
Appreciated by private clubs and an initiated public, bridge requires lucidity and concentration to be able to evaluate probabilities. So many elements which give the game its elitist image, with which the Corsican committee wants to break by welcoming all levels.
A game of bridge is played in silence. Unlike belote, where announcements are made out loud, here they are made using this auction box, which makes understanding the rules more difficult. But the French federation wants to democratize the practice of the discipline.
The international bridge festival will conclude this Monday evening, while a new edition is already looming for next year in Ajaccio.
