Oklahoma City ranked in the top 10 in the U.S. News & World Report’s 2026-2027 Best Big Cities to Live in the United States.

This is the second year in a row that Oklahoma City has ranked among the top two big cities to live in.

News & World Report based its rankings on multiple factors, including cost of living, weather, transportation, community, and the job market.

Mayor David Holt said the ranking is the result of an investment in improving the city’s quality of life and that the success is not coming to an end anytime soon.

“This ranking would have been inconceivable in the 1980s and 1990s, but it reflects an intentional strategy we’ve deployed ever since those challenging years,” Holt said. “Across three decades, our residents have passed 15 votes totaling $10 billion of investment in our quality of life. No, we’re enjoying what happens when you invest in your city.”

Oklahoma City also ranks #124 in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Places to Live, #171 in Best Places to Retire, and #5 in Best Places to Live in Oklahoma.
