Twenty years of career. It’s already been two decades that Christophe Willem a été intronisé dans The New Star. Since his coronation on M6, the 42-year-old artist has come a long way, had a string of hits, and today seems more fulfilled than ever. The one who is preparing to celebrate his twenty years of career with the release of a new album, scheduled for October 2026, and a tour in 2027, has also released a new title, Systaime this Friday, May 22.
“J’ai réalisé ce rêve” : why did Christophe Willem settle in Brazil?
A busy news story which pushed our colleagues from Parisian to speak with the singer affectionately nicknamed the Turtle since his debut in the music industry. Speaking to journalists from the regional daily, Christophe Willem spoke about the big dream he recently fulfilled: s’installer au Brésil ! A radical change of life which pushed the interpreter to Double I à sell his home in Val d’Oise, in the Paris suburbs.
“You shouldn’t just be a spectator of your life”began the singer with the atypical voice in the columns of Le Parisien before returning to his interest in this Portuguese-speaking country in South America: “I love this country. I dreamed of having a house of my own there. At one point, I made the decision.” To make this dream come true, he spared no expense, even if it meant being misunderstood by those close to him: “I sold my beautiful house in Val-d’Oise, in Deuil-la-Barre. I took smaller accommodation here, which allowed me to buy another one there. I made this dream come true.”
“In my surroundings, people didn’t understand… recognizes Christophe Willem, however, although he has thought carefully about his big change in life. Despite the criticism, he chose to trust himself and continue to assert himself, as he explains in his interview with Parisian : “Suddenly, I decided to trust myself and not to be afraid.” A change of life that seems to delight those who now spend their daily lives between France and Brazil.
Why did Christophe Willem refuse to be a coach in The Voice Kids ?
In an interview given to Ciné Télé Revue last March, Christophe Willem explained that he had been approached by the production of a famous television show: “Yes, I had already been approached for The Voice Kids, during the first seasonshe declared before confirming that he had refused the offer. I refused because I didn’t feel comfortable coaching children. At that time, I saw the program as a factory for making stars.”
Despite these initial apprehensions, he is no stranger to a change of opinion, as he clarified to our colleagues in the Belgian media: “Maybe one day I’ll let myself be tempted. I’m not closing the door”, he concluded. It remains to be discovered what the future holds for Christophe Willem…
