“I really got the taste for directing”: Olivier Thouret, the child from La Ciotat who launched into cinema

Olivier Thouret lives in Paris but he was born in La Ciotat and he likes to come back to the South. “When I was a kid I wanted to be a train driver ! he remembers with a smile. But that wasn’t possible and I became an actor ! “At the age of 20, the young man took theater classes at La Ciotat then he was accepted into Actor’s Sud, the acting school run in Marseille by Robert Manara. “There, for two years, I really learned the trade, he explains. When I left, I initially turned towards the one-man show. But the big turning point in my journey was my meeting in 2016 with the director Laurent Cantet. He gave me the role of Teddy in L’Atelier, his film shot in La Ciotat. It was a revelation. When I wasn’t playing, I spent all my time watching the combo or observing the team on the board.
